The Citation III seats eight and only eight. It is the one midsize aircraft we charter whose seating does not move between seven and eight, so the cabin a charterer is quoted is the cabin that turns up. Top speed is 473 kt, second in the category behind the G-150's 475 kt, and range is 2,350 nm. It is also the only Citation we operate at this size. The cabin is both the narrowest and the lowest of the seven, at 66 in across and 68.1 in high, and that is the counterweight to everything above: this is a quick and predictable aeroplane, and it is not a spacious one.
Baggage is 61 cu ft across five bags — mid-table for the class, and enough for eight people travelling light rather than eight people travelling with equipment. The cabin runs 220 in. The Latitude and the Sovereign now sit a class above it in our fleet, and the III is best read as what a midsize Citation is without them: a tightly drawn aircraft with a fixed cabin and no ambition to be a lounge. Specified for a two-hour business sector with a full eight aboard and hand luggage, it does that job as directly as anything in the category, and the fixed seat count means nobody arrives to a different aircraft than the one they booked.
