Descrizione

Bombardier's single entry in our super midsize fleet takes a visibly different line from the Embraers and Cessnas around it. The Challenger 300 measures 86 in across the cabin, a width nothing in the class exceeds and only the Gulfstream G-200 matches, and stands 72.8 in high. The cabin is 284 in long, short for the category — the aircraft puts its volume into cross-section rather than into feet. For eight or nine passengers on a two-to-four hour sector that is a defensible allocation, because shoulder room is felt continuously and cabin length mostly when somebody is moving about.

Range is 3,065 nm and top speed 470 kt, with 106 cu ft of baggage across ten bags. Takeoff distance is 4,810 ft; we hold verified takeoff figures for only three aircraft in this class, so that number is quoted as a fact about the aeroplane rather than as a ranking against its neighbours. Production has ended. What is left is a straightforward proposition: a charterer who wants the widest cabin the class offers, and needs neither the Praetor 600's range nor the Legacy 500's seat count, is choosing between this aircraft and the G-200. Height is what separates them — 75.6 in in the Gulfstream against 72.8 in here — and the rest of the comparison is close enough that availability and price usually settle it.
