Global 5000

At 4,960 ft the Global 5000 has the shortest takeoff requirement of any ultra long range aircraft we charter — 750 ft less than the next, and more than a thousand feet under most of the class. That single figure changes which airports are available on a long sector, and it is the reason charterers ask for this aircraft by name rather than by range. An intercontinental jet that cannot use the field nearest the meeting is an intercontinental jet with a road transfer attached. The 5000 removes that step. It is also the aircraft that makes short-notice repositioning practical: fewer runway constraints mean fewer legs flown empty simply to reach a departure point with enough tarmac. Over a season of recurring trips that is a material difference in what a charter programme costs to run, and in how quickly one can be assembled.

Behind the wing it is unmistakably a Global. A 489 in cabin standing 74 in high and 95 in across, 194 cu ft of baggage over 19 bags, and seating for up to sixteen. Range of 5,200 nm covers Milan–Los Angeles without a stop, which is the sector most charterers of this aircraft are actually flying. Its 513 kt maximum speed is a shade above the larger Globals, so nothing is given away in transit for the field performance gained. The 5000 is out of production and thoroughly established in charter service, which shows up as availability at short notice rather than as compromise. Its 3,667 ft landing distance is longer than several aircraft in the class, so the 5000's advantage is specifically at departure rather than at both ends of the sector.
