Citation CJ2

Two CJ2s sit in this fleet and they fly the same mission on paper: six seats, 1,550 nm, a 3,360 ft takeoff and 413 kt. Where the original CJ2 separates itself is inside. Its cabin is 166 in against the CJ2+'s 163, and 57.9 in high against 57.1 — small margins, but they run consistently in the same direction, and on an aircraft this size a cabin is measured in inches rather than feet. Six people on a ninety-minute sector will not analyse the difference; they will simply find this the more comfortable of the two.

The rest is the CJ family as it always is: 58 in across, five bags in the hold, no cabin attendant, and a runway requirement most regional airfields satisfy. Production has ended. The CJ2 is specified for the sector the category exists to fly — a short hop with a small party, at a cost of complexity close to zero — and among the six CJs we charter it is the one that gives six seats without moving up to the CJ3's larger airframe. Against the CJ2+ the choice is narrow enough that availability usually settles it.
