Citation CJ2+

The CJ2+ carries the CJ2's mission without altering it: six seats, 1,550 nm of range, a 3,360 ft takeoff and 413 kt. That is not a hedge — the two aircraft genuinely share those four figures, and a charterer being quoted one or the other is choosing between variants of a single proposition rather than between two aircraft. The cabin measures 163 in at 58 in wide and 57.1 in high, marginally tighter than the CJ2's on both counts. Five bags in the hold.

What that leaves is a straightforward light jet with nothing to prove and no figure to lead on, which is a more useful thing to be than the category usually admits. Six people, ninety minutes to two hours, a regional field at either end, and an aircraft type charterers and operators have flown for decades. The CJ line above it — the CJ3 at seven seats and the CJ4 at eight and 2,165 nm — is where the ladder continues if the party or the sector grows. For everything below that threshold, the CJ2+ and the CJ2 are the same correct answer.

The same mission, later built
