Top speed is 525 kt, and nothing in this class comes near it: the next quickest we charter is the Gulfstream G-280 at 482 kt. Pace of that order is not a footnote on a transcontinental sector — it is the whole reason the type still gets specified. Range is 3,111 nm, mid-class. What the Citation X asks in exchange is volume. The cabin is 66 in wide, a width it shares with the Citation Sovereign, and 68.5 in high, and the hold takes 82 cu ft across eight bags — the smallest baggage capacity of any super midsize we operate. Those are the proportions of a narrow, fast airframe, and they are not incidental to what it does well.

The cabin measures 287 in and seats eight to nine, so the aircraft's case rests on pace rather than proportion. Cessna has ended production, and the type now trades on the single quality no newer super midsize in our fleet has taken from it. For a charterer the decision is legible: less room across the shoulders and a smaller hold, set against the highest top speed in the category. On a same-day return where the outbound sets the schedule and the inbound is the leg under pressure, that is usually the trade worth making. The Sovereign shares the X's cabin width and spends the difference on length; the X spends it on speed.
